I'm not afraid to stick my hands up and say that I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to MAC lipsticks. I'm not really sure why because it's not like they're not accessible to me (I live near a Debenhams!!) and they have some gorgeous colours in their range. Hmm I think it might be because I feel quite intimidated by the MAC ladies at my local MAC counter and I always feel like I shouldn't be poking and prodding the MAC displays. I know, I know; I'm being a complete baby, but it is what it is.
'Girl About Town' is actually the only MAC lipstick that I own and I brought it all by myself, like a big girly - woo result!! I've had it for the longest time and I only brought it because I loved the colour when I saw it. I'm not quite sure why I did because, at the time, I wasn't brave enough to wear it and so it just ended up gathering dust at the bottom of my makeup collection for a while. However, I recently rediscovered it and I've been enjoying it for a few weeks now. Is that weird to say, that I'm 'enjoying' it? Anywho, I've decided to put all my thoughts, opinions and ramblings about my old-but-new favourite lippy into a short (hopefully!!) review for you.
|Totally gorg, right?!|
I know the colour is a bit 'out there' but I am really in love with it at the moment. Seriously, I'm obsessed!! Do you remember a couple of weeks ago when I was really into that rich plum colour? Well ladies (and gents if you're reading!!), there's a new kid on the block.
What I Think
- Colour - Some people, myself included, might call the colour of this lipstick 'Fuchsia' or something in that colour range. It's very bright, but I think the intensity can be built up or toned down depending on what look you're going for. If you want a more intense colour on the lips, you can layer the lipstick up quite easily. If you just want a hint of colour, just apply one layer of lipstick to the lips and blend it out evenly with your finger.
- Feel On The Lips - This lipstick is so moisturising, which I totally love. I can't stand matte lipsticks because they feel extremely heavy on my lips - eep!! Even after I've had this lippy on for a while, it doesn't really stop nourishing my lips. I'm not quite sure what finish it actually is, but I really like it.
- Price - I can't actually remember how much this lippy set me back because I got it a while ago on a whim, but it was more than I've ever spent on a lip product before. Having looked on the MAC website, I can see that it currently retails for £14, which is a bit steep!! I've just brought a Topshop lipstick which comes pretty darn close to this in terms of how it feels on my lips, and it was way more affordable at £8. However, everyone loves a bit of MAC now and then!!
- To Repurchase Or Not To Repurchase - I'm not quite sure if I would repurchase this exact lipstick because I do have to be in the mood to wear it, and it's not very often that the mood strikes me to wear it. However, I would definitely consider buying a more everyday shade because I love how creamy and hydrating the lipstick itself is.

Are there any MAC lipstick lovers out there who could recommend shades for me? Currently I'm loving reds, natural browns and plum kind of colours; anything but nude!!
